The Witcher 2 – Big Hide for the Settings of the Game
User Korush Gazi from the site GeForce.Com made a fantastic guide on the settings Witcher 2 For those who want to play a game with a balance of performance and image quality. The article examines all the game settings in detail, so after reading it you will know for sure how to correctly configure the numerous parameters of the game. The author’s translation of the article is presented below.
Witcher 2: Kings killers continues the history of the murderer of monsters Geralt from Rivia, strong and mysterious warrior, for whom we played in the original game “Witcher”. Now Geralt accused of killing the king. The path to justice passes through the atmospheric world, which abounds with all kinds of creatures, side tasks and secrets. Despite the fact that this is real RPG, The game also contains a complex combat system that requires development. PC exclusive, witcher 2 fully uses all the power and versatility of the platform.
The purpose of this leadership is to make you understand how to correctly configure the numerous parameters of the game, since the wrong setting can make the game slow down even on the most powerful systems.
Before continuing, make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements of the game:
• Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHZ or AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ or better • RAM: 1GB RAM (Windows XP), 2GB RAM (Windows Vista/7) • HARD DIS: 16GB of free space • Video card: 512MB and Pixel SHADER 3.0 (GeForce 8800 or better) • Sound card: compatible with Direct X 9.0c • OS: Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista SP2 Or Windows 7 • Internet connection required for installation
The following is a detailed description of all numerous settings in the game built into Configuration Tool, as well as screenshots of comparison in the right places, in order to compare the image quality after changing these parameters. Keep in mind that something may differ, depending on your system and configuration. We want to give you enough information on how to correctly configure the game, what settings to turn on or disable in order to eventually get a balance of visual quality and performance.
In addition to the settings of the parameters of the game, the correct setting of the operating system is no less important. There are quite a few problems associated with performance, in particular, hanging, departure and slowing down, may be the result of incorrect Windows configuration or greatly outdated and incorrectly configured drivers. Therefore, we recommend downloading you the latest version of Tweakguides Tweaking Companion (TGTC) and optimize the system. At least do not forget to update your video card drivers to the latest version.
To correctly perform different settings, you need to somehow measure frames per second (FPS). A quick and simple way to measure FPS of any game is to use the free Fraps utility. Download, install and run fraps before starting the witcher 2. You will see the yellow FPS counter, which is displayed in the corner of the screen.
Pay attention to this FPS indicator, especially during active actions in the game, for example, in a heavy fight or rollers – frames per second are becoming smaller (FPS “sags”). Therefore, the sign is good to notice your minimum FPS indicator. If it is not very high, you will need to configure the various parameters of the game until it reaches the mark of 20-25 stable frames per second with active actions, and even higher (30-35 fps +) during a regular game, for example, a walk around the city and a conversation with others.
To gain access to the main gaming settings, run the witcher 2, and in the main menu of the game, select the option item. You can change them, but none of them has an effect on performance. Access to more detailed settings is described later.
Music volume, sound volume: these two sliders adjust the volume of music and sound effects in the game. Install at your discretion. If you have problems with sound in a witcher 2, try to reduce the number of channels to 5.1, or turn on the stereo mode in the control panel for your sound card. Also make sure you have the last audio driver – see. Section General System Optimization.
Complexity: The level of complexity in the witcher 2 is selected at the start of the new game, however, you can change it at any time. This is a very important parameter. At a light level, enemies are weaker and inflicter less damage, and Geralt causes greater damage to them. At the normal level of complexity, the game is moderately complex, and requires some practice of mastering the battle with several opponents. A difficult level only for very experienced players, it requires the use of all herall skills to win the battle. Insane level is incredibly complicated, and if Geralt dies, you will have to start the game first.
Battle Diary: If this option is marked with a checkmark, detailed data on the amount of damage and the resulting damage will be displayed during the battle. This is an option for those who prefer to see the amount of damage applied and received.
Hints: If this option is marked with a checkmark, small windows with useful tips will appear whenever Geralt encounters new functions, uses new objects and abilities. Beginner players, especially not familiar with the Witcher series, should turn on this parameter, at least in the gesture and beginning of the first chapter.
Complex QTE: Quick Time Event (QTE) occurs at certain points of the game, and requires pressing some keys / buttons in a certain sequence. Fist struggle is one of the examples of QTE. If the “complex QTE” option has a checkbox, then QTE-issues will become a little more difficult, and will require a faster reaction. If you remove the box, QTE will become easier, and in some places (for example, in rollers) it can be generally removed. You cannot completely turn off QTE.
Subtitles: If there is a checkmark opposite this parameter, then subtitles will appear during dialogs on the screen.
Type of controller: This parameter allows you to choose the type of controller used in the game. By default, this is a keyboard, however, you can also use a gamepad. To change the keys, you need to open the Configuration Tool and click the “Control Settings” button.
Mouse sensitivity: This parameter determines the level of the mouse response to your movements. If you have changed this settings and still feel slowing down, most likely it is due to low performance. See your personnel frequency program Fraps, And if it is below 20-25 FPS, you need to change the settings to improve the response. Disabling vertical synchronization also helps to reduce the mouse delay.
Inverting the axis X forces the mouse to work on the contrary. Looking up, you look down, and looking down, look upstairs. Inverting Y axis will change the mouse movement in such a way that when moving the mouse to the left side, you look right, and looking right – look left.
Brightness and gamma: The parameter “brightness” displays the overall brightness of the image in the game. Set it so as to see the details in dark scenes, but so that the image is not too bright. Gamma is a more complex parameter, and usually should remain by default.
To gain access to the full setting of the game, open the Launcher Witcher 2 and select the “Settings” item. To get direct access to Configuration Tool, go to the folder with the installed game \ Witcher 2 \ Bin \ and run the configurator file.EXE.
Configuration Tool will open in a new window and by default will contain only a few main parameters. Put a checkmark at the “Detailed Settings” mark to see the full range of additional options.
Initially, all options are placed “by default”. From this basic configuration, we will change individual settings to see what effect they have on the quality of the image and performance.
Complete system configuration:
• GeForce GTX 460 1GB • Intel Core i7 940 • 3GB RAM • Win7 64-bit • NVIDIA 275.33 WhQl Drivers
Resolution, full screen, vertical synchronization
This parameter regulates the resolution of the game, it is measured by the number of pixels horizontally and vertically (for example, 1920 pixels x 1080 pixels). The higher the resolution, the more clearly the image. However, high resolution can also load your system, in particular a video card, and, therefore, can reduce overall performance, and quite strongly. So if the settings of other parameters are not able to increase the performance of your system, lower the resolution.
Comparison of performance
If you want to launch a witcher 2 in the window, then turn off the “Full -screen mode” parameter. The launch of the game in the window mode can be useful if you want to reduce the screen resolution, but save a clear image. However, to prevent problems with RAM and common stability, we recommend that you play in full screen.
This parameter determines what graphics level will be used in the game. Available options: low, medium, high and ultra.
The schedule confirms that the first large drop in productivity occurs when the graphics are transition from low quality to the average, however, the most significant decline in performance occurs when the graphics settings are switched to the ultra, since they automatically include prohibitive quality, causing serious damage to the productivity even on the most powerful systems.
It should also be noted that the Ultra parameter does not give the most good image quality in the witcher 2, since it will still be possible to increase the parameters “The size of the textures” and “level of levels”. So the parameter “Settings of graphics” is only a starting point. We strongly recommend that you do not rely much on them, and individually configure various parameters. This, of course, will bring you more benefit in terms of performance and image quality.
Vertical synchronization
Also known as Vsync, vertical synchronization is the synchronization of the personnel frequency in a computer game with the frequency of vertical deployment of the monitor. Do not confuse it with fps. When VSYNC is turned on, your maximum FPS will be limited by the frequency of updating your monitor, most people have 60 Hz (60 FPS). When vertical synchronization is disabled, you may have a phenomenon known as “horizontal gap” – parts of the image temporarily become uneven. This does not harm your system, but can annoy. The inclusion of VSYNC removes gaps, but can reduce FPS up to 50% or more, as well as reduce the sensitivity of the mouse. To get benefits from vertical synchronization without damage, turn on triple buffering. Otherwise, in order to guarantee a high frequency of personnel, as well as to prevent mouse delay, vertical synchronization is recommended to disable.
Textures and shadows
Reducing the quality of textures
This parameter controls the quality of the textures used in the game. Textures cover the surface of each object in the game. The inclusion of a decrease in textures will make them more blurry. If you set the value to “without reduction”, then the textures will be in the original resolution, which gives a more detailed image, but requires more memory.
The screenshots above shows the results of a change in this parameter. Когда снижения качества текстур нет, то поверхность стены, двери и окна отображены весьма детально. With a low decrease, the resolution of the textures decreases, as a result of which we see some blurry and loss of small details. With a high decrease, the details are significantly lost, and the image breaks up into squares.
We will not do performance schedule, since the deterioration of the resolution of the texture in itself does not lead to any significant changes in performance. The main reason why it is worth turning on a low or high decrease, this is a decrease in the probability of bonding and slowing down when you are exploring the area.
The size of the texture memory
This parameter determines the amount of memory that will be allocated to the game for storing textures. It does not have a significant effect on FPS, and does not change the image quality in the game. It affects only the number of textures of textures that occur when you explore the game world. The optimal settings largely depend on the number of video memory (VRAM) of your video card, as well as the settings of the parameter “Reducing the quality of textures” described above.
Available settings parameters are given below:
Very low = 100MB low = 200MB average = 300MB high = 400MB Very bitter = 600MB
Remember that the whole memory of your video card cannot be used only for storing textures, so it is better not to choose the settings that are more than your real volume of video memory – this can increase the loading or hanging, and in some cases lead to the departure of the game. At the same time, the choice of too low will lead to noticeable loads. Start about half of your real video memory (for example, with a 512 MB video card, set a value to “low”, with a memory of 1 GB, set a value to “large”, for 1.5 GB is very large). If after a while you do not have problems, you can increase the parameter and look at the result.
For people with a small amount of video memory, the correct combination of memory size and reduction of textures will lead to a smooth and most stable game.
The quality of the shadows
This parameter determines the quality of the shadows in the witcher 2. Possible values: low, medium, high and best. In principle, a change in this parameter practically does not affect the quality of shadows and performance.
The screenshots above show the difference between the best and low quality shadows – as you can see, there are practically no differences.
The schedule shows that the difference in performance is https://casino-goldenbet.uk/ also minimal. Thus, you can set the quality of shadows low value for better performance and without loss of image quality.
Light quality with shadow
This parameter sets the limit for the maximum number of light sources that can discard the shadows at the same time. In places with several dynamic light sources, this can affect performance.
Two pairs of screenshots above show that despite the low or best quality, there is no difference. A decrease in this parameter can add FPS, especially during the battle, when magical effects can create new dynamic light sources that can add shadows. So you can lower this parameter without any serious impact on the image quality.
The schedule shows that the impact on performance is minimal, with the exception of some points. I repeat, you can put this option to low value, as this can increase productivity without any significant image quality losses.
Level distance, glow, light rays and smoothing
The distance of levels
This parameter is responsible for the details of distant objects. The higher its meaning, the further the surrounding world will be drawn. A decrease in this parameter can significantly increase FPS.
Screenshots above show the difference between a large, medium and very close distance. Compare the screenshot of a large and close distance – the most significant difference in the foliage. At a very close distance, most of the leaves disappeared in the distance. However, even near the heralt, the texture of the leaves became less complex. Look at the branches and the trunk of the tree that to the left of Geralt. As you can see, their details on minimal settings have significantly decreased. However, it should be noted that there is almost no difference between normal and large distance.
The schedule shows that as the parameter decreases, performance increases. Given the increase in performance when switching from a large distance with a minimum loss as an image, those who need performance, it is recommended to set the parameter for normal value.
When this parameter is turned on, Bloom Lighting is activated in the game, which adds fog effect to the game world. It is designed to create a fantasy and fabulous atmosphere of the game. Given the fact that this settings for performance on most systems are minimal whether to turn on or not this parameter is already solving you.
The schedule shows that changes in the “glow” parameter do not have a significant impact on fps. If you don’t like Bloom Effect, or you need shots per second, turn it off.
When this parameter is turned on, bright sunlight creates the rays of light passing through objects. The most striking example of this can be seen in the forest when sunlight seeps through the branches of trees. Visually, this is a very beautiful effect that creates a special atmosphere in the game, but it also affects performance.
Screenshots show how sunlight passes through branches and bushes. With the parameter turned on, we see many separate rays of light, but with the offs turned off, the general gamma also becomes darker.
The schedule shows that the inclusion of light rays slightly reduces performance, however, in some cases, the effect on performance can be quite strong. Choose what is better for you – adding realistic effects or productivity growth. If you notice slowing down when you wandered through the forest, it is recommended to turn off this parameter.
Smoothing
Smoothing – a method used to reduce the gear of lines in computer graphics. In the game you can include it, however, we cannot set certain indicators, for example, 2x, 4x, etc.D.
Screenshots above show that when the smoothing is turned off, dentistry is visible on the grill, this is especially noticeable on horizontal beams at the top. When the smoothing is turned on, the toadding is significantly reduced, which makes the picture more smooth. Screenshots also confirm the fact that when the smoothing is turned on, the surface textures are slightly clear and more detailed than when it is disabled, so the smoothing not only reduces the dentistry, but also increases the details of the picture.
The schedule shows that with the smoothing on, performance falls. If you need performance, not a luxurious picture, it is better to turn off this parameter.
Blur, depth of sharpness in the game, vignetting and rain
If this option is included, then we can see a special effect in the game – blurring the screen at certain points. Do not confuse this with the blur, which occurs with a sharp rotation of the camera – this is the effect of “blur during movement”, it will be considered later.
It is difficult to display this effect in the screenshot, but still I succeeded when Geralt fell into a trap. Blurry is used to refer to the disorientation of the heralt, since it was injured. The action of this effect is most noticeable along the edges of the screen. In principle, this option is not used in the game not so often, so its shutdown will not affect the quality of the image.
The schedule shows that when the blur effect is included, the frame rate drops slightly. In principle, this is not scary, but if you fall into a trap during the battle, and this will cause you a delay in the mouse response or other problems, we recommend that you turn off this parameter.
The depth of sharpness in the game
The depth of sharpness in the game is an effect that makes objects in the foreground more detailed and clear, and in the background more blurry and foggy. It is used to give a feeling of depth of the picture. In the witcher 2 there are three separate settings that allow you to control the depth of sharpness – one of them affects the depth of sharpness during the usual game, and the other two (the depth of sharpness in the rollers and the depth of sharpness in the scenes) are only related to the use of the parameter in the screensavers and dialogs. Disconnecting depths of sharpness in the game can make the picture much more clearly, as well as increase productivity by reducing the effect of cinematography.
Screenshots above show that when the depth of sharpness in the game is disconnected, trees and buildings far from Geralt steel a little more clearly. The ship behind Geralt also becomes clearer, and the picture usually looks much less foggy. However, the use of the effect of depth of sharpness makes this relatively gray picture visually more attractive, due to the introduction of some clarity in the distance.
The schedule shows that with the parameter of the depth of sharpness in the game, FPS is added slightly. This effect is applied throughout the game, its disconnection will mean that you will get a certain increase in the average frequency of personnel. Many leave this parameter on, here already decide for yourself.
Vignetting
If this parameter is turned on, it makes the edges of the image a little darker. This photographic method is known as vignetting, and in the witcher 2 it is just an effect, without any influence on performance.
The screenshots above show the vignetting effect. If this function is turned on, the edges of the image become darker, but this is noticeable only when compared with the screen, where this effect is disabled. I repeat, the effect does not affect FPS in any way, and if you do not want to see it in the game, you can disable it.
This parameter is responsible for the appearance of a wet surface when it rains. This is a barely distinguishable effect, and given that the rain does not go so often in a witcher 2, its action is difficult to notice.
In the screenshots above, I tried to demonstrate the action of this setting, but since this is an animated effect, it is difficult to correctly fix it in the screenshop. Когда параметр включен, то по некоторым объектам будет стекать вода, например по бочке справа. If this effect is turned off, the rain will go the same as before, but the objects will not seem wet from the rain.
The schedule shows that there is a decline in performance, but not strong, given that the rain is not so frequent in the game. If you do not chase FPS and do not notice slowing down during the rain, then the effect can be turned on for greater realism.
Ssao, blur during movement and more about the depth of sharpness
SSAO (global lighting)
The inclusion of this parameter is activated by the obstruction of the surrounding light in the screen space (SSAO), an improved version of Ambient OcClusion, the effect of darkening, which improves the quality and realism of the shadows. SSAO can improve shadows in the witcher, but will have a significant impact on performance.
The parameter is turned on
The screenshots above shows the difference between the SSAO on and off. At first it seems that in one screenshot there are simply more shadows than on the other. In fact, SSAO parameters are involved in specific areas. Look at Geralt – SSAO adds shading along the edges of his face, and also adds to him more depths. Looking at the right hand and torso, you will see a smooth shading, which makes the heral model more realistic. SSAO also embellished plants and branches on the left, now they are not just dark or bright, but darkened. As a result, SSAO softens and mixes shadows, this is not too noticeable, but definitely improves the graphics with more realistic obscurity.
The schedule confirms that SSAO significantly affects performance. Add to this the fact that this is not a very noticeable effect, as a result, for many SSAO is one of the first parameters that should be disconnected (along with beyond quality), for the sake of productivity without severe damage to the quality of the image.
Blur during movement
This parameter controls the use of blurry. It is most noticeable when you rotate the camera. Turning on the blur during movement will reduce the FPS when the effect is noticeable.
The screenshot shows the moment when the camera quickly rotates around Geralt, so this is a slightly exaggerated example of how blunting looks when moving. However, you can see that while Geralt and Earth under it remain clear, the surrounding background is greatly blurred.
The schedule shows that when the blur in motion, performance falls. This is especially unpleasant during the battle, when you need to react quickly, and, therefore, quickly rotate the camera – your FPS will fall precisely when it is most needed for a quick response. It can also lead to additional freezes whenever you move the camera sharply. So if you do not have a top video card, it is better for you to turn off the blur when moving to increase FPS and greater smoothness in such situations.
Depth of sharpness in rollers
The depth of sharpness in the rollers (DOF) was described earlier in the section “depth of sharpness in the game”. This is an option that makes videos in the game like a movie. Due to the additional load on the GPU, this effect reduces performance, and this is one of the reasons why some people experience slowing down in the screensaver. Cm. Below is a comparison of screenshots.
Depth of sharpness in scenes
This option controls the use of sharpness in the screensavers and dialogs. However, keep in mind that when the option is disconnected, the “depth of sharpness in the scenes”, but the turned on the depth of sharpness in the rollers, the effect will still be present. Therefore, you must use both of these parameters combined with each other (for example, or both turn it off or both turn on).
Disconnecting the depth of sharpness in the scenes will be pointless if you leave the depth of sharpness in the rollers on, the screenshots above show that at first both parameters are turned on, then only the depth of sharpness in the rollers, and then both parameters are turned off, successfully deleting all the effects of blurred. As you can see, when the depth of sharpness of the rollers is disabled, some blurred effects still act, but the figure of Geralt, as well as trees and rocks become clearer. When both effects are turned off, the blur completely disappears, and the image becomes clear and clear (not counting a small cloth from Bloom – lighting in the upper left).
Although the depth of sharpness in the rollers makes an impression, it may not like it to many. If you prefer a slight blur in the screensavers and dialogs, turn off the depth of sharpness in the rollers and turn it on in the scenes. If you want to completely remove the blur effect, turn off both options.
The schedule shows that the rollers and dialogs will function better if the depth of sharpness in the rollers is disabled, and it will improve even more when the depth of sharpness in the scenes will turn off and the depth of field. If you turn on only the depth of sharpness in the rollers, but turn off the depth of sharpness in the scenes, the difference as the image will be minimal, so this is not recommended.
The boundaries of hanging objects, prohibitive quality, decoding
The boundaries of hanging objects
This parameter is for objects such as the hair of the heral of part of the clothing move realistically. The inclusion of this option sets the limit, how many such objects will move. Even if the parameter is turned off, Geralt hair will still move, like other objects. The option is designed to reduce the load on the central processor.
The schedule shows that there are absolutely no FPS changes. Only weak two-core processors can get some advantage from this option. If you have a powerful processor, you can turn off this option.
Overflow quality
This parameter includes a special mode that improves the image quality due to the multiple study of the scene before showing it in the final version. The effect of transcendental quality is displayed in more clear textures and better detail. However, this option requires not only a high -class processor, but also a very powerful video card.
In the screenshots above, we see a comparison of the image with turned on and off quality. The key differences of the ongoing transcendental quality are that the picture becomes more detailed – the textures of dirt and trees are more detailed, earth, grass and bushes have more clear textures. Also insignificant dentistry, which has not been eliminated before, is now finally smoothed out. However, it is worth noting that the textures of Geralt’s clothes and his scabbard became a little less clear. In addition, the tent fabric, especially dark places, are drawn in less detail.
The influence of this parameter on performance is shown below:
The schedule shows that the prohibitive quality today is one of the most demanding settings in the witcher 2, FPS decreases by 60% with any resolution. In fact, there is not a single video card capable of smoothly working with turned out to be on and at maximum settings. Overcoming quality is primarily intended for Multi-GPU (multiprocessor video cards). Considering that this setting provides only a slight improvement in the quality of the image with such a decline in performance, transcendental quality is the first option in the list of disconnecting.
Decoding
Decoding is responsible for such parameters, such as spray of blood on Earth, sword or face of Geralt. The disconnection of the option will reduce realism, but can increase productivity on weak processors. Regardless of the selected parameter value, all effects will soon disappear.
As you can see, on most systems, the disconnection or decrease in the option value practically does not affect the performance. We advise you to turn off the parameter only on weak computers if you want to add a little FPS, especially in major battles, where there is a lot of blood.
On this we will finish considering the settings available in Configuration Tool. Next, we will study the advanced Witcher’s settings 2.
Advanced settings
PC Gamers are lucky that they have an additional settings editor called Configuration Tool. The correct setting of these settings will allow you to play with the balance of performance and image quality.
However, for those who want to go even further, the witcher 2 will also offer a number of more advanced settings. This is editing ini files. The file we need (user.ini) is in the category \ my documents \ witcher 2 \ config \. Make a backup copy of this file, then let it out in any text editor, for example in a notebook. Most of the ini file settings change in the Configuration Tool, but there are several settings that can only be changed in this file:
Dangleslimiter = 0
This parameter is the same as the boundaries of hanging objects in Configuration Tool. However, here you can control its value more accurately. Value 0 is the maximum, it does not impose any restrictions on the edges of objects. Value 1 means that restrictions will only act on herall, and value 2 limits the movement of all hanging objects.
Texturememorybudget = 600
This setting corresponds to the “Textures Memory” parameter in Configuration Tool. It sets the maximum memory volume that the witcher 2 selects for storage of textures. You can assign your value in megabytes for this parameter. There are no restrictions for this parameter, but do not forget that installing a very high value can lead to problems – see. item “The size of the textures memory” described above.
FoliaGedistancescale = 0.5 meshdistancescale = 0.7
The values above control the level of detail in the game, that is, it is the “level distance” parameter in Configuration Tool. The smaller the value of these parameters, the less detail the details of the objects are far from the herall. These values will help you more accurately control the level of detail, you can also increase the parameters above the standard maximum 1.2 LKZ further increase in the detailed range. Please note that the default FoliaGedistancecale values are not in user.ini, so you should add it there yourself. In addition, there is no restriction for this configuration.
Maxcubeshadowsize = 256 Maxcubeshadcount = 1 MaxSpotshadowsse = 512 MaxSpotshadowcount = 3
Values above are related to the quality of the shadows in the game. The shadows settings in the Configuration Tool seem to be incorrectly displayed by their values. As a result, even if you set the quality of the shadows for the best, in the user file.ini will remain equivalent to low level. You can manually edit these parameters as you want.
It is worth noting that if you change any of the values to user.ini, and then change any value in the Configuration Tool, this can rewrite / drop all your changed parameters. First configure everything in Configuration Tool, and only then edit user.ini.
The Witcher 2 turned out to be popular with the PC community, so that a number of modifications have already been released by changing individual aspects of gameplay and graphics. You can download a number of these mods from here for free, but keep in mind that they are not officially supported, and do not forget to read the instructions for each fashion in detail.
With the optimization of the system, as well as the configuration of the game using Configuration Tool, the witcher 2 should go relatively smoothly on your system. If you are still experiencing problems, go to the official website of the game and read the official FAQ, which describes all solutions to the current problems.
In terms of gameplay advice, keep in mind one important thing: a witcher 2 is not a slasher. This is an RPG, which means that you should use a strategy to learn in practice all the intricacies of the combat system, the use of signs, potions, and combo-studies. The fighting at first will be disappointed to disappoint, but over time it becomes easier, although it is always problematic to fight with more than one enemy, even at a normal level of complexity. Read the manual carefully, often use quick saving (button F5), and do not despair if you constantly die in the gear. The Witcher 2 gives extremely useful experience, and therefore is worth the effort on it.
